Allied London Melford Ltd., engaged the services of Demolition Services Limited to carry out the demolition works at the former Rackhams Store, Market Street, Bradford.

The works comprised the removal of the 5 upper storeys down to 4th floor level, which remained, due to this being a listed facade.

As part of the works, substantial asbestos removal works were undertaken together with the installation of a full height working scaffold suitably clad with sheeting in order to minimise any adverse environmental impact within the City Centre location.

Works were undertaken utilising manual demolition techniques and the contract was completed within the 16 week contract programme agreed.

Demolition Services Limited were successful in obtaining and completing the enabling works/demolition contract of the Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield for Sheffield City Council/Bovis Construction Limited.

The works comprised the installation of a facade support scheme, designed and erected by Demolition Services Limited together with internal demolition and internal temporary supports, propping and bracing in order to facilitate the new refurbishment works.

Demolition Services Limited carried out the complete range of works directly available from resources within the company including the design and calculation service, in addition to carrying out the trade contract works.

Other noteable town centre developments recently completed were the demolition and refurbishment of the existing Empire Arcade, Briggate, Leeds to form the new Harvey Nichols Store and the demolition of a nine storey office block in London Wall, London EC2 for Morgan Grenfell & Co.
