Demolition Services
Limited were successful in obtaining and completing the demolition
of the Admiralty Building, Granary Wharf, Leeds for Developer CTP/St.
James Securities Ltd.
The works comprised the complete demolition
of a former brick built Mill building approximately 100 mtrs.,
long by 25 mtrs., wide by 18 mtrs., high known as the Admiralty
Building, to facilitate the regeneration of a semi derelict
estate known as the Canal Basin close to Leeds City Centre.

The works also involved the removal of asbestos
located within the existing Boilerhouse. This work was carried
out in advance of the demolition works in order that the whole
of the contract could be completed within the agreed contract
period and to the satisfaction of the Contract Administrator.

Following the ever increasing
changes in the British Car Manufacturing market Rover
Group/Durr Ltd. Joint Venture engaged the services of Demolition Services
Limited, as a preferred Supplier, to carry out a number of
contracts within the Longbridge Car Plant, Birmingham.

The main activity involved the stripping out of redundant
plant within a number of existing paintshops, followed by
structural demolition, in order to facilitate the construction
of a new Paintshop complex. The works involved the clearance
of some 5,000 tonnes of redundant plant and steelwork. Prior
to these works, dustproof screens were erected in order to
provide an adequate seal to those paintshops which remained "live" and
those which were to be demolished, in order that the production
and manufacture of the existing facility could continue.
The major key to the efficient running of the operation, which
had to be completed within an extremely tight contract period,
was the organisation and planning of in-house resources which
were provided within agreed time slots and out of hours working
in order that interface with production could be guaranteed.
Following Demolition Services success in carrying out these
operations they have recently been awarded further contracts
at Rover Group, Oxford and Jaguar
Cars, Castle Bromwich. |
