Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Demolition Services Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
What is my Carbon Footprint made of?
Carbon emissions are divided into three different scopes:
Scope 1.
All direct emissions from the activities of an organisation or under their control (fuel combustion on-site, fleet vehicles, and air-conditioning leaks).
Scope 2.
Emissions created during the production of the energy purchased and used by the organization (UK electricity, heat and steam).
Scope 3.
All other indirect emissions from activities of the organisation originated in sources that they do not own or control (business travel, procurement, waste, and water).
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions.
Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Demolition Services has measured carbon emissions since 2020. The data for the emissions sources required by PPN06/21 has been drawn out from a verified data set. Emissions data have not been gathered in prior years, therefore we have selected 2020 as our baseline |

Emissions reduction targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
- Demolition Services Ltd is targeting net zero emissions across all its activities by 2050. This target includes the full activity of our supply chain working on our behalf. This target includes all emission sources covered in PPN06/21
- We are targeting that carbon emissions will decrease 50% by 3030 to 1192 tCO2e
Our targets have been inputted and will be tracked against these targets in the graph below:
Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2020 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 150 tCO2e to date, a 6% reduction against the 2020 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract
Carbon reduction initiatives implemented to date
- LED lighting to offices and PIR sensors
- Flexible working policy
- Working from home were appropriate
- Car / Van share initiatives
In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:
- Net zero site set up policy
- The switching of site fuel from red diesel to HVO (second generation biofuel)
- Zero carbon supply chain collaboration initiative
- Implementation of zero waste strategy
- Development and launch of biodiversity net gain strategy
